shot gun recomendations
I've latly been thinking about buying a new shotgun. So far i seem to be leaning towards the 11-87 upland special. I like the wood and strait stock and the short barrel. Yet ive shot a berreta 391 (i think) and liked it to. Any recomendations. Now i have an 870 express synthetic i plan to still use it for waterfowl. And the new one mainly for quail phesants and doves.

If it has to be semi-auto I'd look at Browning Gold or A-5,Remington 1100 or 11-87. I like the looks and fill of the Baikal O/U. And in a pump gun I like Remington 870,Browning BPS Stalker. Just to name a few.

Find yourself a good used O/U. I bought my first one (Citori) after about 12 years of using an 870 and never turned back. The poor 870 doesn't get much attention anymore. My hunting partners critisize me cause I only have two shots but I always hunt with two "up" for quick reloads and can get my 2nd-2 shots off before they get another shell in their gun. I use mine mostly for waterfowl and like being able to change my load when I see what birds coming in. I also like the option of selecting and using two different loads and chokes. 0 -
If you're buying... once and for all... one gun you can always rely on no matter how you treat it, I'd say "Benelli".
If you're looking for a gun that can take a beating in the truck, just a plain workhorse - I'm still saying Benelli.
You won't regret it - as you will find something for every taste.
The Benelli Recoil-system is one of the most, if not THE most, reliable system - on top of that, it's the fastest.
Don't do anything that I've allready done - That'd be just plain STOOOOOOPID.0 -

If you haven't shot one before, the straight stock has more kick. I have a 20 gauge remington special field 870 and it will rock you pretty good if you don't have it shouldered properly. I also shot a new Citori 20 with english stock at the sporting clays course and it has more kick than a regular stocked Citori 20. 0 -
Becker: Wow! kind of a tall order. Stack guns and side x sides are great. I shoot both and love them. When it rains, I lean toward my Super Black Eagle (but wouldn't pull it out for any other reason). I saw a nice Ithaca stack gun sell the other day for $500.00 (made by SKS). I recently purchased a Winchester 101 for $700.00 in mint condition. I like the stackers and the side x sides; because they are safer when dog handling, and I just shoot them well. The absolute key to shotgun selection is fit. Tika makes a nice stack gun in the $800 range (a little heavy for my taste). Both Benelli and Beretta have new auto loaders out; but they are running $1,000.00 plus. Winchester has a $500-$600 model in auto. The only thing I like about it is the wide rib; the rest of the gun is heavy and clunky in my opinion. I've never liked the English stock guns myself; but they are absolute quick pointers. Nothing wrong with the 11-87; number of guys at the trap ranges shoot them. Best of luck. 0 -

I have a 11/87 great gun especially with the short barrels. Ill take that gun hunting with me over any other gun i have whether it be deer or small game i love it

Remington 1100 and 870 are about the finest shotguns I've ever known. Get an 1100 in 20 ga or smaller--it's a dream to carry, and shoots great. I've shot Citoris, and don't like them. The feel is really different, and they just don't handle right for me.
I shoot quail with a 870 20 ga, squirrels with a 28, and only bring out the 12 for trap. Never had a shooting problem with an 870. Just don't use Winchester super speed shells, as they offer pitiful patterns.
