German Luger - What am I looking at?
I have a 1936 German Luger, EXC Cond - no holster wear, scratches, or little to no pitted metal. Matching serial numbers on both the upper and lower, two mags, the original factory leather holster and fieldstrip tool. I believe this item to also have Nazi markings. I am unsure if this was a war time piece, but there is nothing written in English on this piece. It does not have the grip safety, nor the long barrel so common on a lot of lugers. I believe it has SS markings, but again, I know nothing of that era, I'm not quite certain... All I want right now, is a ball park figure, from someone who knows Lugers, what its worth is. Your description doesn't make a lot of sense. Unless you provide PICTURES, it would be hard for anybody to help you.

If you believe that it has SS and Nazi markings, tell us why you believe that.
How long is the barrel? (note: Long barrels on Luger ARE NOT common). I would bet about four inches, maybe?
Tell us about the magazines. They should be numbered to the weapon. Serials, metal color, and bottom material.
Most Lugers, like most Germans, are war material. 1936 was just before WWII and two years before the march into Austria. Safe to assume it's a captured piece.
To properly evaluate the piece, please list only facts, not beliefs. About the only SS markings are the Ku and Totenkopf. What markings (describe in detail) and where.
Are ALL parts matching (requires disassembly).
Pictures are of major help.

Thanks Guys!! I will have detailed information quite soon. Like I said before, I know very little about Lugers. The firearm is in our family safe (in another state) and I will have to have my father ship it to me. (yes... I'm an FFL). Once this happens, I will have the information posted here. All that I described was from memory.. however shaky that is :-)... But thank you ALL for your VERY responsive postings. Your criticism(s) are not unappreciated.
