Reloading Dies Interchangable?
Hi Experts,
I inherited my Dad's old Lyman Spartan bullet press and two sets of rifle dies. It reloads .270 and .308 cartriges beautifully.
But here's my question: Can I put other dies in it (RCBS, Redding, etc.) or are they all proprietary? Specifically, I'd like to reload 9MM luger and .380 auto. pistol cartridges. Is it possible, or am I all wet?... Thanks!

As long as your dies are the standard 7/8 x 14 thread size they are interchangeable in the Spartan press; I have five of these presses at present. 0 -
All "MODERN" reloading dies are made to the standard "7/8 14" external dimensions, "EXCEPT" the Dillion proprietary dies for the Square Deal B, reloading press and the "5/8 30" dies for the obsolete Lyman True Line Jr. Press.
All dies that are currently manufactured are "7/8 14".

But
not all dies work equally well in all presses. And, some have features that others don't, such as quick release, carbide inserts, etc.

Hello, lyman still makes the 310 tool that is a different thread size. I believe you can also purchase bushing so you can use in standard press. If you have old Tru line jr they fit right in this press.
Old Ammo, have lots always looking for more.0
