thoughts on hesse fal-h

i am a novice when it comes too the import rifles.but i am looking for a decent .308 semi too shoot at the range.i seen this gun,a hesse fal-h with a tripod at the local gun store.looks like a well built rifle.i have also seen some of the cetme that have been welded.i guess my question is what is the best gun out there for the money and what do you think of the hesse fal-h model? thanks don

    Everything I have heard about Hesse is bad, very bad. If you are looking for an inexpensive FAL check out:

    They build fals for a good price. I bought my carbine from them for $600. Great rifle at an awesome price. Their fulsize gun runs $550.
    They build their guns on Imbel Receivers (one of the few FN licensed manufacturers) and make top notch guns. Most likely they have no stock on their fals but I found if you have them charge your credit card they will build you one real quick!

    Hesse is just a short misspelled version of hassle!!!!!! go with an imbel receiver!!!!!

    i have heard the early hesse were built on imbel recievers and were decent guns.this is a hesse fal-h st paul min,how can i tell if its built on a imbel reciever?thanks don

    if it is true imbel, it will be stamped on the receiver!!

    The Hesse question has been here before. I have OWNED two Ar clones and mine worked all the time. Others have stories of woe. but your call,,,urban legend myth,,,gun store bullsnot,,,who knows. They are gone out of business now,,,,see if he will let you try it..cheap enough and works, buy it. IMO. nambu p/s/ I still have one,,,still shooting...

    Hesse has reinvented itself as Vulcan. My advice would be to stay away from both.

    I have the R1A1 which was built on a Hesse receiver....CRAP[xx(][xx(] Can't even get rid of it for the $500 I paid for it with 8 20rd'ers. Been trying for 2 years.

    I STRONGLY recomend you do what I did....Save up and buy a DS Arms SA58! Excellent rifle!!
