Benelli 20 ga. Montefeltro/Field same?
Are they the same as M 1 Field (20), except stocks? Why does it have Super 90? My SBE 12 can accept an additional shell on the carrier, this 20 ga. can not, can this be corrected as the newer SBEs can by adding/welding in the reciever? I understand this can be done to the newer SBEs and they can then carry the additional shell. Best, Robert

The Montefeltro is a super 90 with a fancier stock and a stainless action instead of blued. Not much else different that I know of. Hope it helps.

Thank you for your post. Does the M 1 Field(20) have a steel reciever and the Montefeltro alluminum? Will accessories interchange? Best, Robert

The Montefeltro 20gauge is a "deluxe" grade Super 90.
The Montefeltro receiver is made from an Ergal aluminum alloy - The regular Super 90 should have the same receiver.
There's just gone a lot more work and thought into the Montefeltro eddition - better wood, higher degree in details and such, making it an even higher quality firearm.
This is probably why carriers for extra shells are advertised for this model.
It would be like putting a trailerhook on a Ferrari - it can be done, but doesn't look too good.
As I see it, the Super 90 shell carrier would fit on the Montefeltro - but am not sure.
I'm happy with a pocket and carrying the shells in my belt. =o)
Happy hunting though - you can't go wrong with a Benelli (well, you might get lost or loose direction, but nothing would be wrong with the firearm once you get back! hehe).
Am surely happy with the wooden Super Black Eagle I bought.
It looks MEAN with the 4 shot mag-extencion.

I believe Brother RSLINTII is referring to the ability of the earlier 12gauge Super Black Eagles to "float" a fourth shell outside of the magazine tube, essentially resting on the follower. This was a feature accidentally discovered by the ersthwhile migratory bird hunter, allowing for an extra shot, (gun must be plugged to hold three shells but with a "pre-ban" Bennelli you could "outlaw" a fourth shell)
I do not believe the 20 gauge was ever able to do this, so modification/welding would not be realisticaly feasible. The main reason it worked on the 12 gauge was due to the fact that the gun was designed for the 3 1/2 inch shells. No such shell length in 20 gauge.
