Getting ready to buy a concealed carry, looking for some advice such as size, caliber, revolver, or pistol

If you wanted a good all around pistol that was small enough to used as a conceal carry weapon, what would it be. I have looked at both the Sprigfield XD and the Taurus millenium. Any other suggestions? Price is a factor. 0 -
consider when,where ,how,weather conditions{humidity] i would have to strongly consider the HK forty,because of the makeup of the gun[resistance to moisture]. this is just my personal opinion and most likely people will have different vues, but i beleive the HK is a better designed and made firearm. but for sure, you have the caliber right!!!! 0 -

One of the most important things to consider when deciding on which gun to carry concealed, is ease of draw, ease of conealability, and weight. If you plan to carry this on your person all the time, make sure you think about weight the most. They get very heavy about four in the afternoon, and all you wnat to do is get home and get it off. But after the first month or so, you get used to it, and don't even know it is there.
I would opt for a Glock, or Sig, as they are bullet proof, easy to carry, absolutely reliable, and you don't have to worry about either one of them as far as breakage is concerned, the factory repair policy if you do happen to have a problem, is fantastic on both of these guns.

Since you mentioned HK, I really like the new P2000. 1911 style with with user friendly carry options.
Also, if you can find one at a decent price, and HK P7M8. It is absolutely my favorite carry weapon, and is carry safe design.
HK is quality caca. I highly recommend them.

My brother carries a feather weight S&W in 38 special. Yes it's a wheel gun, but it's light, fast to draw and has a good round for up close and personal. I love the .40, don't get me wrong but I like it in a medium size carry (cold weather & on the belt). How many shootings incedents involving legal carry concealed happen beyond point blank range? My point being you have many, many calibers to choose from. Hollow point!

A Glock 19 in 9mm is nice also might look at a Sig 239. The HK compact is not really all that compact, but with the right system you can carry anything. I carry a Glock 19 or Sig 239 daily. Sometimes carry a USP 40, sig 226 or sig 220, depending on mood. All my systems for each gun are comfortable to me, just have to experiment (spend money) to find out what works best for you. Best thing is to TRY DIFFERENT GUNS!!!!!! Maybe you can shoot one better than the other...Maybe the sights are better for you on some guns. Dont rush out to buy a gun, Make sure it's the best gun for YOU! Not what others tell you to buy. Go to the range and look at what people are shooting. Most people will let you look at there gun and maybe you can shoot it...[:)]

I have the SW99 .40cal in the compact model. I carry it almost every day. (I have to carry the others every once in a while or they get jealous!) It is a great weapon. The size is perfect for C&C. I've never had any problems with that gun ever.

Hello: If your looking at HK's your already in the money range for just about any carry gun. The key with a carry gun is willingness to put up with the metal hanging on you. In order to be concealed your looking at under the coat or other loose fitting clothing. I've carried an HK USP; a Glock, and a number of other compact auto-loaders. I even bought a cheap Kel-Tec in 9mm (very small and compact). HK's P-7 was my favorite auto loader to carry. When everything was said and done, I ended up with a Colt Detective Special (second generation). Six shot, small, 38 cal.; and I actually carry the weapon. If your not going to carry it . . . it's of no use! I can't stress this point more. Hot summer days, holster on, holster off, weird looks when you have to hide it. In the fall and winter most hip and shoulder rigs work pretty well, but in summer time I use an ankle rig almost exclusively. Spend money and get a quality ankle rig; and just about any compact 38 cal revolver will work well. I like the 6 shots in the Colt. Lots of folks here will tell you it's not enough gun . . . but I'd rather have my 38 on my ankle than a 357 or 45 cal. in my glove box. IMHO 0 -
My carry gun is NOT my favorite gun ... it is my carry gun. I carry it as little as possible, but it is most always available. It is a simple weapon for bullet placement under stressfull conditions.

I carried my full-sized HK USP .40 for several years both on a paddle and in a shoulder rig. Carried a Glock 19 for years before that. Then I purchased that little over-powered paper punch that Kel-Tec puts out, their little P-3AT .380 auto. That and a Desantis pocket holster make a really convenient carry package.
I had noticed that I was getting lazy with my HK, and started leaving it at home on short trips to the market and such---too much bother. This little booger I have now goes with me everywhere, and no one has ever noticed it.
Oh, sure, some are gonna say it doesn't have any knock-down power, or you can't hit a target at 50 feet with it, but realistically, in a non-law enforcement situation, if anything is going to happen, it's gonna happen at 5 to 10 feet, and a .380 is more than enough firepower to convince any bad-guy that he picked the wrong person to molest, and at 7.2 ounces, empty, the P 3AT is most convenient.0
