Rifle/Shotgun over/under combo
I am looking for a rifle/shotgun double-barrel combo, preferably with 20 ga. shotgun and .223 or similar rifle caliber. Does anyone still make a gun like this new these days? Or is there a particular search string I should use to find those that are available in the auction portion of this site?

An affordable choice would be the IZH line of Russian made guns. I have little experience with them but have heard they are of decent quality. Options apart from this would involve VERY expensive european made guns from such firms (groups) as the Ferlach Gun Guild. I believe the US importer for the IZH line is EAA (European American Armory). They generally have a full page add on the rear cover of the Shotgun News each issue.
P.S. I believe Savage is still making the 24 series also; if not, a really good condition used specimen should be available for a fair price.

The Savage would be a good choice, but I picked up a Staggs-Bilt 20ga/30-30 combo gun and appreciate its quality. 0 -
I strongly recommend you investigate the Brno ZH300 series. There are at least 27 different over/under barrels' sets available -- shotgun, combination, and double rifle. All parts interchange without fitting. Set triggers are available as interchangeable. Any set of barrels having a rifle has integral telescopic sight mount on top rib.
I have an excellent isometric drawing with parts list. The only problem is finding out who is the current importer.

You might also want to check out Rossi's. They make the interchangeable barrels in combo's. The 223 I shot the other day is a tack driver!

Thanks for all your input. I ended up buying a used Savage 24V from a local gunstore in 20 ga/.222 with a Simmons 3-9x32 scope for $275. Seemed like a fair price to me, hopefully I didn't get got. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but it is a good looking gun. 0 -
Not too bad on the price as long as it is in excellent condition, and I think you will appreciate the choice of the tripple deuce! Nice long neck and just inherently an accurate caliber! You don't have quite the power as opossed to the 223, but the difference is fairly minimal and the slight accuracy advantage of the 222 will, I believe, manifest itself fairly quickly! Good choice as far as I'm concerned!

A friend asked me about the BRNO double rifle and I was able to give him only a few facts in reply. My only experience was once shooting skeet with a borrowed O/U BRNO shotgun using this system, and the action seemed pretty loose. Of course, there's no telling how many rounds had been through it. As I recall, it had a Kersten double bolt locking system at the top, but I don't remember how it locked underneath, and the fact that the barrels don't require fitting makes me question how close the tolerances are. Do you have much experience with this action as a double rifle? A copy of the isometric drawing would be a big help.
