rossi ladysmith

gb has one of these tiny 7 shot revolver listed.....my wife wants to hike some of the trails on state parks i am thinking of providing a small ,lite weapon convenient to carry along...is this a steel frame or alloy ???? solid well made or not ????? appreciate other opinions on choices for this adventure..... thanks

    The frame on the Rossi is made of zinc diecast "potmetal".

    They were quite popular at the time, circa mid 60's. Unfortunately GCA 68, cut off importation.

    This makes it at least 35 years old. Best to get something else for your wife to carry.

    There is/was a Lady Rossi varriant of their Model 88, but it's a 5 shot not a seven. Actually I'm not aware of any Rossi in 7 shot.

    The Lady Rossi was imported between 1995 and 1998. MSR on this model was $225 ... market value, while it changes from one part of the country to another is probably $150 to $175 if the revolver is in top condition. There just isn't much demand for 'em.

    The revolver spasmcreek was inquiring about is called the "Rossi Princess". It was a (7) shot knock-off of the S & W "Ladysmith". Importation ceased in 1968, because of GCA 68.

    I've had a few of them over the years, and found them to be cute but of poor quality. I would not recommend it at any price. You might want to consider the S&W model 34 or its SS equivalant. At a somewhat lower cost you should check out the Charter "Pathfinder".
