selectable ejectors vs. automatic ejectors?

Is there a difference between these 2 things? Please explain if there is a difference.

    The only selectable ejectors i know of, are automatic. They only eject the spent round,and extract the unfired round in double guns.

    I also have never heard of selectable ejectors,
    Just ejectors , shells will fly out after shot or extractors
    when fired shell is extracted 1/4 inch and you have to pull it out
    I have both and like both for differant reasons

    My Browning BT-100 (this is a trap shotgun) can be set up to eject the fired shell or to only lift the shell from the chamber so it can be extracted by hand. Hand extraction is desirable for trap shooters that plan to reload the fired shell. Ejection is more desirable for hunting situations when fast reloads are needed for follow-up shots.

    actually, hand extraction is not desirable for trap. the time it takes to fumble with the shell can slow down the tempo of the squad. the ejector will snap it into the waiting palm so it can be pulled out quick. if you mess up and dont get that shell out before its your turn, the squad gets real upset.

    Hello as LABWIlD stated if a shot gun or drilling has extractors it only pulls the fired case about 1/4 inch out of chamber ejectors snap them with enough force that they leave the gun .A method of changing from one to the other on the same gun would be selectable. This has been around for years mostly on better grade guns I have one us made from 1910

    I believe what you are referring to is which barrel to eject the empty shell casing from on an over/under or SXS. The selector on the saftey allows you to choose which barrel to shoot.

    another reason auto ejectors are NOT wanted on hunting guns is the 'snap' gives away your position. the only place auto ejectors does help hunting is bird hunting, when you got birds all over the place. snapping them out out quick can get you an extra few birds on the fly. most clay guns have auto ejectors that 'snap' shells out when fired.

    I respectively disagree with bobski. I have no trouble EXTRACTING the shell and being ready to shoot when it is my turn. I have seen trap shooters that learn to catch the empty as it is ejected, but for my reflexes, I will stick to extracting. I believe it would be easier to mess up when trying to catch the ejected shell. I also do not think that ejecting during hunting situations will spook game, especially since my shotguns only eject after a fired shot. I think that big bang is what alerts the animal. My Browning Citori is auto eject and I simply hold my hand over the chamber to prevent shells from escaping.

    Got to agree with LABWILD though I can't comment on trap shooting. Guess I didn't realize it was a "timed" event!!!!![:D][:D][:D][:D] Just more proof that life really is a "rat race".
