Ultramax remanufactured ammo

Anyone ever use this stuff? Impressions?

Since I have been studying Greek lately, I'll give a more direct translation of the Thermopylae Monument: "Stranger, tell the Lakedaemonians that in agreement with their customs, we lie here."

    I have had less than stellar experience with their reman.'ed ammo. Nothing terrible, just a little on the inconsistant side. As far as practice ammo goes, I would have to say I would consider it adequate, but no better.

    The .38 Special, 9mm and .223 ammo I shot was not real accurate and was on the dirty side IMHO...I bought a bunch of it when it was on sale at Dick's sporting goods a couple years back. It was OK for plinking but there is better new ammo out there for about the same price.

    I buy most of what I need at Wal-Mart (UMC or Winn. White Box) for about the same price I was paying for the Ultramax...

    Guns only have two enemies: Rust and Liberals....

    Price is generally OK and sometimes it is on sale at attractive prices, but it is "dirty" and the performance is nothing to get excited over.

    I think some of the 9mm I got was over charged, blew out several cases, and damaged my extractor. The .40 was OK, though.

    we sell quite a bit of the ULTRAMAX here at the shop, and have had no complaints. i have put a few boxs through some of my own guns, and its been problem free for me. it sells, its pretty cheap, it seems to function ok, and its readily available. best regards, mike.

    I tried it in my .308 it grouped really bad like 6-12" groups compaired to everything else at under 3" PMC is cheeper and groups better I wont buy Ultramax again.

    I've used this brand in .308, .30/06, and 9mm with good results. The 30/06 groups about 1-1 1/2 " in my old springfield o3/a3.

    When I took over my departments firearms training program, our previous instructor was buying ultramax 9mm 147gr jhp's for training since at the time we were shooting Glock 17's and 19's with 147 gr hydrashoks. I found it to be extremely dirty ammo, accuracy was adequate at best for training purposes. When I implemented a rifle program I started buying their .223 55gr jsp's and while still dirty, their accuracy was more than adequate so that even my most disfunctional shooter could qualify on my course of fire. Since I have the luxury of buying on a state bid, I now use federal ammunition for training both 40 S&W and .223 and it's cheaper than ultramax for us to use. I still have a case of ultramax 9mm I shoot every now and then out of my off duty piece.
