M-1 Tanker
Was there really an M-1 Tanker model used in the Military or is this somthing that was made fron looped barrels and bulged barrels? If so is $500.00 with a few extras a good buy?

The M1 "tanker" was an experiment by the US Army that didn't work well; the prototypes were still heavy, still awkward, & had such unpleasant muzzle blast that they were determined to be unsuitable for combat. The only surviving 3 rifles are in the Armed Forces Museum System.
After WWII, a company created a few thousand using old parts & rewelded receivers; these were both unreliable & unsafe. Other companies & individuals have hacked otherwise good M1's & created their own "tankers", but most have reliability problems. The only consistently reliable ones were made by Springfield Armory, Inc.
Since most of us can't tell the safe "tankers" from the unsafe ones, & since we also can't tell the reliable from the unreliable ones without firing them, & since the muzzle blast is still unacceptable to most shooters (& those firing next to them), I see no reason to buy a "tanker", at any price.
