Just got my first Schmidt-rubin Swiss 7.5mm Karabi
Just received my Military Surplus 7.5mm Schmidt-Rubin Swiss K31. Man, it appears to be a "jewel of the gunmaker's art" just as I have heard. Paid $89.00 plus $20.00 for handpick and plus $10.00for walnut stock. This think is a mechanical work of art, I don't care it was designed 75-100 years ago. And it has the reputation as being one of the most accurate military rifles ever made.
Anybody know where I can get a scope mount for this rifle? I am guessing they are hard to find since the round is ejected almost straight up and would probably hit the scope every time. OBTW, is does have the straight pull bolt (very, very fast) and a detachable 6 round magazine. Anybody know where I can buy an extra magaizne or two? Oh, did I say I LOVE this rifle!!
BTW, trigger pull is so smooth it feels like it should be on some expensive, custom made rifle!

I have one of Pierre St. Marie's clamp on mounts on my K-31. It works really well. Both Graf's and Brownell's, carry them along with his drill & tap mounts.
He is also one of the moderators of the Swiss Rifle Forum and has done a lot of reloading for the Swiss Rifles.

1. GRAF AND SONS sells two different scope mounting systems for the SCHMIDT-RUBIN family of rifles, as well as the DIOPTER rear / GLOBE TARGET front match sights that you see used at CAMP PERRY. they are set up to accept ANSHUTZ or GEHMAN accsesories. they carry a non drioll-and-tap set up as well.
2. remove your buttplate, and check for the "OWNERSHIP" paper. if your lucky, there is a slip of paper under the buttplate detailing the owners name, DOB, unit, home town, rank, etc...
3. SPORTSMANS GUIDE carries spare mags, but be prepared to pay over $50.00 per piece.
i have one, my dad has one, we love them.
best regards, mike.

Congratulations on a great deal on a great rifle.
Just a few years ago they were selling for $300.
If someone was making them brand new today they would go for a thousand bucks.0 -

Got this picture from Doc Kerrigan's excellent site. It's not in the best of shape. I'm sure tr fox's is better. It will give you an idea of what the K-31 looks like.

rufe-snow. thank you so much for posting that picture. I wish I could have done it. Mine looks just like your picture although my walnut stock is in a lot better condition. The metal on the gun in your picture looks to be in fine shape as in mine.
