Mystery USGI Cotton Web Sling

This is a sling I found in a lot of Garand slings I bought. It has the same tip, clamp and sling swivel hook as a Garand sling, only every part including the cotton web sling is 1 1/2" wide rather than the 1 1/4" Garand sling width. The sling is only 36" long. Anyone know or have any ideas? Thanks.

  36" long and 1.5" wide is for the m4 or m16 that we use now.
