Police Tear Gas Billy ? Legal? Or Illegal?

To Whom It May Concern,

Went to an Outdoor Flea Market and found a Vendor who had a Police Tear Gas Billy Club that was marked "Federal Laboratories, Pittsburgh, PA. USA".

The club measured about 12" long and had a Firing Pin device at the back end, used to discharge a Tear Gas Cartridge. It looked like it had about the same inside diameter as a twelve gauge barrel.

Question: According to the law, is this item legal or illegal to own?

    Although it was legal when first sold, $20.00 in the 1940 Stoeger's Shooter's Bible..

    It's questionable now? as it's able to chamber and fire a conventional shotshell.

    Best to check with the Feds and your local LEO's, before buying it.

    No federal law against it. You might want to check state and local laws.

    In 1940, the National Firearms Act had been in force for six years or so. The basic laws have not changed significantly since then.

    Any man can shoot a gun, and with practice he can draw fast and shoot accurately, but that makes no difference. What counts is how you stand up when somebody is shooting back at you.
    To die for what one believes is all very well for those so inclined, but it has always seemed to me the most vain of solutions. There is no cause worth dying for that is not better served by living. L'Amour

    Thank you for the quick reply to my question.

    Left a deposit with this Vendor because I wasn't sure about the Laws regarding the legality of this item.

    Don't know if I will be able to get my money back now? He had a few other people hawking the item while I was giving it the once over. I told him to put it back and that I would pick it up next week. Shoot!

    Disagree with the above, believe the Fed's stopped production of the Tear Gas launchers/dispenser's that were able to utilize conventional cartridges/shells in the 60's.
