Remington 700
I have a Remington 700 sps tactical chambered in .308. Does anyone make a detachable magazind system for ths and any comments on the quality. Thanks

I have had a lot of Remingtons , but I've never heard that ! 0 -
I prefer the older models to the ones being made now with the key lock safety system. The earlier models had triggers that were more easily adjustable. I have one that is about 20 years old and you could easily adjust the trigger pull and sear engagement. I have one that is about 10 years old and the sear engagement screw on it is factory set and sealed with something similar to Lock tite. 0 -
The sealant on the set-screws is clear finngernail polish (or something close) just take a small screw driver and pry the coating off the screw and they can easily be adjusted. I have heard some folks say they prefer certain years,..but for me,..a $15 shroud can replace the j-lock in a few seconds,..which makes it of little consequence. All my 700 rem's shoot,..never saw one that wouldn't.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

Pearyw, I have an original factory instruction sheet on how to adjust the 700's trigger. I make copies of it for friends.
I agree with JustC,...never owned one that did not shoot well (some better than others but not because of production models), and the triggers of all 700's are readily adjustable... BUT for the lawyers out there I,ll add ..by a qualified gunsmith.

Gotta' go with the flow on this one...they all shoot well and there is little difference that a normal shooter would discern between one year and another. I don't like the lockable bolt either, but it is easily bypassed as mentioned. The 700 has remained virtually the same gun for all its' years and with the exception of diffeing grades of wood etc. I would be hard pressed to tell you that one year is markedly different than another!

I think i'm starting to see a pattern forming here... i've shot or owned rem. 700's in most of your popular caliber's and 90% of them have all been factory stock gun's... no complaints in quality of any of them and they all shot good enough for me ... 0 -
Hi all,
I have to go 100% with the knowledgable group on this Forum. I have a 700 I bought in 1976, it shoots straight as I am ever capable of pointin it... Shoots flat at 100 thru 400 yds for me, with Factory or my re-loads. Its a winner.

have owned maybe 30 over the years and only one of them wouldnt shoot under an inch and a half and most of them would break an inch with out much trouble 0
