Hey folks. Anybody know if it is safe to shoot +P+ 9mm loads in a Browning BDM? Thanks

I'd go with a Glock for that use. A lot of +P+ 9mm ammo is made more or less for carbine/SMG use, using it in a pistol is tough on the gun and will cause accelerated wear of parts.

PS: The HiPoint 9mm pistol is +P+ rated too[:o)]

    Love them Beavers

I don't want to rain on your parade BUT please tell me why you want to get the last bit out of a firearm . all thing made of steel have limits as to stress and if you use them at this limit they will break faster . if you want more then 9MM go to a 38 super . If you use things at half their limit you will make them last longer and won't have that nagging feeling of IS THIS THING GOING TO BLOW the next time I pull the trigger.

Speaking of case head separations, in the early days of "Practical Shooting" (1982) I was shooting a 1911 with a heavily "throated" barrel. I was reloading every night and wasn't giving the brass the attention or inspection it deserved. Needless to say, as the brass was loaded over and over, the unsupported case head became weaker and weaker. When I finally had a separation it blew the magazine out of the pistol and broke both grip panels. Made my hand sting pretty good too! Other than that, the pistol was unharmed. Says something for the 1911!

I have fired in moderation +p+ 9mm ammo in Glocks, S&W, Ruger, Sig, and HK...None have shown any sign of wear and none have blown up.....Since you purchased a Ruger carbine, why not buy a Ruger Handgun so you can use the same Magazines in both.

Guns only have two enemies: Rust and Liberals....

I've fired it in a Beretta. I would recommend to only shoot a box or 2 to train up, and then only keep it in for contingency use, returning to standard ammo for plinking or target shooting.

Since I have been studying Greek lately, I'll give a more direct translation of the Thermopylae Monument: "Stranger, tell the Lakedaemonians that in agreement with their customs, we lie here."

That was my thought too. Ruger's P-series 9mm pistols are all designed to handle +P+ ammo just like their carbine.
