Hello your shot pattern would be %^#$ but it will not hurt gun.Buy another barrel and have it reamed out smooth bore probably could go to 20 guadge. then it would shoot ok but be HEAVY for a shot gun.

I have to disagree with those that say it is safe. I would never shoot shot in a rifled BP gun unless the shot is in a "cup" then rammed down the barrel like a ball or bullet. I would make sure there is a cardboard over shot cover as well. I may be wrong but it has been my understanding that shot in a rifled barrel can jam up and cause a very dangerous situation. Like I said I may be wrong but I have been shooting BP for 25 years and was taught by people who have been shooting it for 40 to 50 years!

The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four Americans is suffering from some form of mental illness. Think of your three best friends. If they're okay, then it's you.

I would try a cup if you can find one. The cup will spin but the shot may not.

To my knowledge black powder can only reach 850 bars of presure.
At this pressure the reaction is in equilibrium. Every new bp gun should be rated and tested to withstant this amound of pressure. This means that with bp guns you should be able to weld the barrel shut and fire the gun and still be safe. So even id the shot would jam up the barrel you will be safe.
