Replacement Hammer

I have a Vulcan Arms exposed hammer, dbl-bbl, 12 ga. Coachgun. Aside from not knowing anything about the weapon, I also need a Left Hammer. It currently has one, but it looks like a handmade replacement. Or, maybe the right one is the replacement. I figure it's the left because the knurling on top looks awfully crude.

Anyway, if anyone has an idea where I can get one or both hammers, I'd appreciate it. A new stock would also be nice. I bought the weapon used and it's split right up by the trigger. It's not bad to look at, but I think if I shoot it, the shock would make it worse, if not break it in two.

Anyway, any info would be appreciated!

    My reference notes your shotgun was a Crescent Arms product.

    Since they have been out of business since 1930, you might have problems getting replacement parts.

    Being it's a old hammer gun, it would be best to have a gunsmith check it for safety and test fire it, prior to shooting it.

    Vulcan Arms Co: Trade name used by the H. & D. Folsom Arms Company on firearms made for the Edward K. Tryon Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Actual manufacturer would be Crescent Arms, Meriden, CT, c 1893-1930.

    You might give these folks a try. They have had some pretty different things for sale occassionally. Their catalog is online. If not, it might be easier to just locate another one to repair this one or make it a wall hanger.

    Thanx for the info, guys! I use it mainly as a prop for Cowboy action shooting - haven't shot it yet. But, I think it has a newer bbl then the rest of the gun. It's a darker finish than the rest of the gun. It's stamped "Genuine Armory Steel," whatever that means.

    I'm more concerned about the stock because the current hand-made hammer works fine, it's just not aesthetically symetrically pleasing. But, a broken stock is most uncool...
