Model 12 winchester

I have a 12 ga. model 12 nickel steel barrel. #60360. In Madis's book Winchester Model 12 He claims this gun is "very rare and valuable collectors item." Can anybody provide more info about the value of this gun? Thanks

    Seems impossable to find an older model 12 in 20 ga. 26 in. barrel with cylinder or imp. cyl bore. Plenty of others around but none as described. are they that scarce ?.

    lots of model 12's with nickel steel barrels. we will nee more info as to condition. if this is a field model in good condition $250.00-$300. vents rib, special items would change the value. how old is your gun??

    I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.

    Plane-crazy welcome to the forum. Actually Nickel steel barrels are rare today, since Winchester made just a little over 2,026,000 Md 12's, and only the first 620,000 plus or minus depending on guage had Nickel Steel barrels. They had all been installed by 1932/33 time frame. Now the Stainless Steel barrel which was offered from June 1926 to 1933 or 34 is rare.
    Plane: Tell us the condition of your gun,good can mean many things. Has it been reblued? Is the stock still original? The first style stock has a very small pistol grip and real long in the wrist area where you hold it. Commonly referred to as the "Perch belly stock. what is the barrel length, 25,26,28, 30 or 32, what guage is it?
    Plain barrel, matted barrel (very rare), solid rib, 2 pin Vent rib, since you didn't say if it was a Field Grade or Trap Grade. Any rust or pits. Give us all the info you can. Generally speaking a Nickel steel gun (12ga.)will start in the high two hundreds and go up fast depending on what you really have. Just by the age, the Nickle Steel guns are disapearing fast, worn out or rusted out, torn apart and sold for parts. It will go up in value if you take care of it.

    I will have to get it out to find out some things, but most of the things I can reply to now. it has the original blueing and stock. it is a 12ga. it is a field grade.

    We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box.

    PC ok we have narrowed it some to a Field grade gun. However is it a plain barrel, or does it have a solid rib. Barrel lenght is important. The more open the choke and shorter barrel, will add valuel. the most common barrel lenght was a 30 in. full choke. However the barrel lenghts could be 26,28, 30, or 32 in. this is measured from the face of the breech bolt to the end of the muzzle. (Action should be closed, breech bolt all the way forward and locked)
    There are some rare barrels like a 26 in full Choke, or a 30 in Cyl choke, this would add some value. Let us know what you have. Regards Dave
