MAGNA-TIP SUPER SETS?Decent smithing screwdrivers?

Are these any good? I was looking at the 58 bit set

I already have to order the FORSTER/BONANZA SCREWDRIVER SET for school

but I was wondering if the MAGNA-TIP set is any good in compairison, sounds like it would be alot more complete I am just wondering if its the same type heads and are they as strong as the Bonanza set.

    I recently retired from rowning Arms where I was the Chief Firearms Test Engineer for many years.

    I used the Brownells super set almost exclusively. Occaisionally a bit will break, that's almost unavoiodable, but you only need to replace that bit, whereas with the Forster the whole tool is lost. I had a set of the Forster, but rarely used them.

    i'm on my third set, lost one in a fire, wore the next one out (cheaper to buy another set than to replace all the missing/worn bits). if you work on any european guns get the thin blake add-on set too.

    I have 3 sets of Magna-Tips currently simply because I use them in 3 different places and I don't want to need them and not have them. The fixed handle screwdrivers are nice to have also but I use the Magna-Tips more frequently. I use the middle length LE handle the most. And as Mike says, if you plan on working with European shotguns, get the thin blade set when you get ready.

    This is something that I wanted to bring up in the first place. Brownells Guarantees these screwdrivers Unconditionally! That means when you break or chip a tip, they will send you a new one, NO CHARGE. I've had it happen a couple of times and when I had an order ready to call in, I added the tip since I was having stuff shipped anyway. The price is high but the guarantee makes it worth it. Check the catalog.

    Nice I will have to add it to my growing order :) I just wish I didn't have to order the other set as well... It is on the tools list but.... grr wish I could call and ask one of the teachers "they wont be in till august" maybe I will just buy the magna and wait on the others to see what they say. Or get both... you can always use screwdrivers I suppose hrm :)

    I love my set use them all the time with 0 problems.

    If it can cut, kill or maim, I want two.
