I have a one skss made in CHINA by NORINCO FINE CONDITION anyone have one and know what its worth.? Can anyone tell me if its a para troopers model the bbl is 15inches total length and only extends past the forearm 7inches.

    As usual advice..

    Look on the Gunbroker Auctions, see what has sold for and whats asking.... you will know then. With the flood of low priced Yugos, maybe some of the sks 'wants' went that way.
    If you like guns, and you only have one SKS, you won't be selling your Norinco anyway....right ?

    I have to add... if you don't like the SKS or AK's right away, take them apart .... I am always impressed with such a simple action that will work under the worst of conditions.

    The barrel is measured from the bolt face to the end--hopefully it is longer than the 15 inches you state as a 15 inch barrel would make your rifle contraband. Barrels on rifles must be atleast 16 inches. I suspect you are just measuring it wrong and are not including the "chamber" along with your measurement.

    It sounds like you might have the "paratroop" model. The Norincos--since they are no longer being imported from China--will usually bring a premium; though, as already pointed out, the low-cost imports from other countries will bring your prices down.

    If you do have the paratroop model, I'd guess it could be worth in the $300-$400 range. Watch this auction site, and check past completed auctions, to see if any "paratroop sks" has sold.

    If you can post a picture here, I'm sure it can be verified as to whether or not it is the paratroop model.

    Are you valuing it for insurance or some otehr similar reason? 'Cause I know I would never sell mine! It's a beaut!

    Sounds like a "Paratrooper" model to me but as mentioned earlier the total barrel length must be over 16" to be legal. In my area (NC) you can find one for around $200-$250 in very good-excellent condition. I'd keep it or someday you'll regret that you let it go.Does it have a bayonet? If so is it a spike or blade style?

    Just for your information, on page 11 of 'The SKS Carbine', "The Paratrooper SKS is of Chinese manufacture and was made only for commercial sale in North America and was never manufactured for the Chinese or any other military". The term paratrooper was a sales gimmick only....it worked. On page 7, they were first imported by NORINCO and later by China Sports and a number of other importers. Norinco was a combine of about 150 arms producing factories in the People's Republic of China. Early carbines were ex-military weapons that had been refinished. When they ran out, 'new' civilian models were produced and exported to the U.S. Serial number is a clue to whether or not a Chinese SKS was made for military use or not.

    my mistake bbl does measure 16inches. as far as priceing its was onwned by my recently passed away stepdad and my mom needs money.
