Weatherby side by side shotguns

Hi, I have a weatherby 28 guage sxs-athena grade, and a weatherby sxs 20 guage orion grade. These are NIB. I guess only about 300 were made before being discontinued last year. Would anyone know an accurate value? Thanks.

    Orion 100% condition is $960 (last mfg price - $1149)

    River, that seems a bit low considering i paid more than that new for them. What's you justification?

    Have you tried looking for these guns on the GB auction site? Since these are only recently discontinued, the "used car" theory sadly applies...the second it leaves the lot, it loses a percentage of its' new value. Sad, but true. Now, if you were to wait a few years and put them up for sale, it would likely be a far different story. NIB condition becomes more and more rare with the passage of time and they could well be worth a ton in ten years! Hope that makes sense for you as I think Lake likely has it right.

    Nonsense, values don't go down on guns that are nib and of limited number. if we were talking about browning or winchester pumpshotguns you might be right. But not with weatherbys. Not when beretta or ruger sxs are going for $2000 or more. Blue books aren't always that accurate.

    WHY DO YOU THINK THEY STOPPED MAKING THESE GUNS?? THEY WOULD NOT SELL.

    Good morning 00806600: Don't confuse Manufactures suggested retail price as the value of a gun. Granted there are publications, that give you an average price of "used" guns such as the "Blue Book", or "Guntraders" or what ever. The key being "AVERAGE". Weatherby does make some fine guns, and they do have quite a following. If you are trying to establish a cost for insurance purposes, always go high and replacement value. If you are thinking of trying to sell them, the best way is at "Auction" here with a set reserve price. You will soon see what the current market for them will be. Certain areas your guns are more sought after than other. Meaning where ever there is a high density of shotgun sports, bird or target shooting, you will most likely find a buyer. That is why the auction is a better place, because you can reach all over the U.S., as opposed to just your hometown area. Please don't be upset by what people have told you. Just take it with a grain of salt and move on. A side note, I'll take a pre-64 Winchester Pigeon Pump any day, LOL Regards Dave
