AK Mak 90 question
I recently purchased a NIB Norinco MAK 90. I am curious if it is supposed to lock open after firing the last round. I was at a shooting range and the dudes there got all hurt because the bolt wouldn't lock open. Im curious if something is broke or is that how aks are supposed to be. Sorry about my wording as I am still in the begining stages of learning the proper vocabularly

Thanks for your reply as it is a relief. I am quite happy with its performance. I just need to start jazzing it up with some goodies like a scope and muzzle break. Thanks again

hksrule, I have the same problems with the range masters. I finally made them happy by placing a stove piped spent case in the action, that way the could tell it was unlaoded by sight. This seemed to make them very happy

you can puchase a lock back safety for these guns. all it is , is a safety bar that has been notched to hold the boltcarrier back at anytime. maybe this will satisfy the range master!!!!im sure it will!! it can be installed fairly easy. it replaces the safety bar you have on the firearm already. i know where you can get them!! 0 -

How about posting a link then? I am sure a few of us would be inrested in these replacment safeties.0 -
I have never had that problem through a couple of guns and a dozen or so mags. I have never been too particular on mag purchases, and have tossed one or two for misc. problems such as weak spring, sides bent that bind the follower, etc. In the future, I will surely look at the followers if your problem comes up.
Per your post... I found a good muzzle brake was some help, but a scope only gave me a better view of the point(s) of impact. A poor mount contributed some, but I think most of it is just the accuracy limits of these pieces.
Enjoy....

the only solution to guys at the range getting all butthurt about your weapon not locking back is to stick something in there every time, i personally think this looks stupid. or you could go to http://www.blackjackbuffers.com/bjbcatalog3.html and get one of their SWIFT levers, or just a BHO (bolt hold open) follower to stick on your mags, i would go with the lever. 0
