Shipping handguns

Must handguns always be shiped next day air? Are there any other ways they can be shiped?

    I just sold a pistol on GB for the first time. I know about getting their FFL. But, what is the best legal way to ship a handgun?

    Nope, no way around it. In my area, dealers charge so much to ship/accept handguns that it is still cheaper to ship Next Day Air. FEDEX & UPS have similar policies & rates.

    You can't just "drop off" your package; both carriers require a declaration of contents. If you lie to them, they won't pay claims for loss or damage. Also, consider what would happen if you shipped a gun to a dealer/C&R whose premises are his home, & you failed to accurately declare the contents & request "adult signature required"; the delivery person might leave the package on the porch, & it could conceivably be stolen by a felon or youth. If that thief then used the gun to commit a crime (& got caught), guess who would get arrested?

    Not likely, but hardly worth the consequences.

    Thanks for info. I know about the deal with the post office. It is crazy to be able to ship a long gun with the USPS but not a hand gun. My dealer only charges $15.00 to recieve guns and will charge a low price for shipping. I will just say dealer to dealer on the next handguns I sell. Can't keep getting beat up by the UPS charges.
