Silver plating, still need help
Hi-
I need to get an 1851 Navy (repro) silver plated and am having no luck in the process. I posted once and got a reply giving me the "Pittsburgh Handgun" company as a possible choice. I contacted them but they didn't seem very interested. Any other possible sources out there?
Getting frustrated,
Terry

We are proud to be one of the very few sources on the west coast offering nickel, silver and gold plating for firearms. Everything and anything on your firearm can be plated - the frame, barrel, cylinder, or whatever metal part you choose. Our plater plates military weapons where the thickness of the plating is also used to gauge the tolerance and operation of the weapon. He has his own company locally and Bob works closely with him and supervises all work to assure all firearms are plated to the highest quality possible. The plating is guaranteed so if by some rare chance the plating should peel, just return it and it will be redone at no cost to you.0 -
Texas Plater Supply offers do-it-yourself plating kits. I have used them for years. Little experience with silver plating but their nickel and gold work fine. They advertize in pubs like Gun List. Or, if you want, let me know and I will look up and send you their address. Kit consists of small bottle of paste for each type of plating, special plating brush and wires to connect. Two or three dry cells (flashlite batteries) will provide power. You have to do a good prep job on the thing you want to plate but good results are possible. Hope this helps. 0 -
