1894 .32 Winchester Special
My dad has a 1894 Nickel Steel Barrel Winchester .32 Special made in 1918 sn 834402 manufactured in New Haven Conn. Can anyone give me a value?

Yes, I can give you a value estimate, BUT... not until you provide me with just a bit more information first. Please answer the following questions:
1. Rifle or Saddle Ring Carbine?
2. Barrel length?
3. Barrel shape (e.g. octagon, round, or 1/2 octagon 1/2 round)?
4. Pistol grip buttstock?
5. Solid frame or Takedown?
6. Deluxe stocks (checkered)?
7. Standard open sights or ... ?
8. Estimate of the % of original factory bluing left on the frame (if refinished, it = 0%)
9. List any defects on the stocks (e.g. dents, gouges, cracks, missing splintes, deep scratches, etc.)
10. Condition of the bore?

I am pretty sure its 14 inch barrell half octagon half round and it has 2 gouges on the stocks. 0 -

A 14" barrel sounds fishy.
Go to your local lumber yard or home center and pick up a 3 foot long piece of 1/4" wood dowel stock. Check that the rifle and chamber are empty (very important step), and close the action. Insert the dowel down inside the barrel until it stops, and mark where it exits the muzzle. Remove the rod and measure.
You can do the same thing with a cleaning rod if you have one already.
Is there a ring mounted on the side of the receiver? You would notice it, as there about 1 1/4" around and 3/16 thick.
The stock near the lever, is it streight on the bottom, or does it have a pronounced down curve to it?
Is there a lever near the joint of the receiver/mag tube?

That is the correct way to measure bbl. length as I learned it.
Tailgunner....never seen a "Thumbscrew". Takedowns had a lift out lever that unscrewed the mag tube.
