Imbel FAL Question

A buddy called me up and offered to sell me his FAL for $450.00. He's put about 200 rounds through it. The only ID he can give me is the reciever is marked Imbel. He said he bought it in 1994 and it comes with both thumbhole and regular stock. I'm thinking this might be one of the earlier Century Arms guns. Is this a good deal? I'll be checking out the rifle on Wednesday, what should I look for?

  Seems about going price for a Century L1A1. Thumbhole screams century, but the imbel is a good receiver. It really depends on the kit that it was assembled from. Make sure of the US parts quota and all the legel mumbojumbo.

  The reciever is worth $175 at currnet prices, any parts kit is worth $150, and a nice one is worth $250- 300. Plus any required compliance parts. If the hammer trigger and sear have a small "c" stamped on them it is likely a century gun. The bad centurys are the ones which used their own recievers, the Imbels are great. As long as the bore is nice, and has the required compiance parts, it is a good deal.
