python question
I read somewhere that repeted use of .357 ammo would wear out and damage a colt python. I was wondering if there was any truth to this?

Fired many thousands through mine and it's still in good condition. No, don't beleive there's any truth to that. 0 -
Dont believe it! I've shot over 20,000 rounds of hot ammo thru my 6" blue Python. I finally sent it back to Colt last year because it was getting a little loose, and the timing on the cylinder was off a little. They fixed it like NEW for about $50. Even before I sent it back to Colt, it still shot fine. The accuracy never fell off. I shoot silhouette competition with it, with 171 gr. cast bullets. Shoot it and enjoy it! ( The Python is built on the old Colt 41 frame which is stronger than a lot of frames, like the S&W K frame. It's more like the S&W L frame, which was a copy of the Python.)

Guffie...I don't think the Smith is a copy of the "Python"...cannot agree with you on that one at all! They look a little similar but with the difference in cylinder rotation, different contours and tolerances there is a manifest dissimilarity between them! I do, however agree that the Python is "Molto" durable and should be expected to provide a service life well into the 20's of thousands as yours did. How much was shipping for that thing? $50 was a good deal forthat kind of work...I've got a S&W 586 that I need to send in for similar work and if I get a deal like that, I'll be one happy camper!

My Python was made in 1976 and has untold magnum rounds though it. Still tight and accurate.

I have many thousands of full power 357 mag rounds through my Python which was made in 1976 with no ill effects. The Python was made for the 357. Shoot and enjoy!
Without the NRA, the second ammendment would already be gone!0
