The Mak90 barrel should interchange, but I'm not sure about the SAR barrel. Although a lot of components on AK's are similar there are some substantial variances between AK's of different countries. Off hand, I would be willing to bet that the barrel diameter and trunnion thickness are different between the SAR and the MAK. Might check with Globaltrades or some of the other parts suppliers, I'd bet someone has MAK91 barrels out there.

Most of the norinco rifles I am familiar with have chrome lined barrels which makes them relatively resistant to corrosion.

Assuming you have thoroughly cleaned your rifle, I have two questions:

    1. Has the rifle lost its accuracy? i.e. what accuracy are you getting at, say, 100 yards bench rest?

    2. Do you have difficulty seeing rifling in the barrel, i.e. has the corrosion eaten it away completely?

I am trying to determine if your rifle is salvagable as it is. Most Norinco rifles are not worth the expense of rebarreling...in my opinion. It's more practical to sell the old one for parts and rebuy.

Hello and thanks for your input.I have cleaned it over and over the rifleing is very faint. As far as accuracy at 100yards from bench it is all over the place within a 2foot square.I have thaught about making it a parts gun but I hate to give up any gun.i have had it for about a year now I hate to sell it or turn it into a parts gun mabie just let it retire in peace.

    Thanks again.
