Legal limit for powder
Can anyone tell me if their is a law regarding how much gun powder you can have at your house. I know that their are regs for the amount you can have in your vehicle without Haz Mat Placards, but what about in your house/garage.

This is a state-by-state thing. A man was arrested within the past year in Massachusetts, I believe, for having too much, but the crime was actually having it in unapproved containers. Ask at a gun shop in your municipality that carries lots of reloading supplies and they may be able to help more specifically. 0 -
In these parts (Texas), cities have ordinances on gunpowder storage, and those ordinances are for protection in case of fires. Many Texas cities don't allow any black powder inside the city limits.
Zerodin's suggestion about asking a gun shop owner about the regulations is a good one. Also, call your local fire chief. I bet he could tell you too.

Mooseyard: You also might check with your Home Owners Insurance Carrier. Most Insurance companies put limits on that to protect themselves. If you exceed your policy limits, the Insurance Company voids your policy. There are special riders you can buy to protect yourself. I suggest you check this out. Regards Dave 0 -

In my city we have limits on how much, what type and method of storage. Always best to check with local Govt. to make sure you do not violate any laws in your area. The tip about insurance is a good one to look into also.

If you don't do anything to draw attention to it, no one will know, and there won't be a problem. Just make sure you store it safely. 0
