Can't Decide Which SubGun To Buy
I'd like to get one of the "cheaper" subguns, like an uzi or MAC, you know something less that $6,000. Is there any way I can get some "first hand" experience shooting these? Maybe pay a Class III Dealer for a demo? After all, that is a lot of money, and a big hassle, especially if I'm not sure I'm buying the right gun.

Go for the UZI, it is a musch better gun for the money. 0 -
Isn't the uzi at least twice the cost of a mac? I believe the uzi is far superior to the mac even though I have a mac-10. Yes, it misfeeds and looks like someone made it in their garage.
That's OK. I consider full auto to be just an expensive toy anyway.

Which misfeeds? The MAC? 0 -
MOST macs don't "misfeed". Most are VERY reliable guns, but are indeed a bit crude in construction.
NOW.......with the proper "accessories" such as a side-cocking upper, Wheatley stock adapter, etc, you can make a Mac into a VERY nice weapon.
Most people are completely amazed when they shoot my "crappy old Mac."
If you are near Tucson, I'll gladly let you shoot it.

Where can you shoot those weapons? For sure not here in CA, but I wanted to shoot one of those and never knew where. Also, where can you own those, or is this all illegal? 0 -
Not illegal in all states, just some of them restrict them. Others restrict it by not allowing you to purchase by withholding the CLEO signature.
Renting is reasonably common, in places where machinegunners congregate. Arizona even has some. There is a shoot in NE Oklahoma in june, and they will be renting then. Knob Creek has them(KY)
I have been known to let people shoot mine from time to time.

If you have the green, Scottsdale Gun Club (http://www.scottsdalegunclub.com/) rents quite a selection of machine guns and has a very impressive stock of transferable weapons, including supposedly three but at least one (I only saw one in person, but they said they had two more in safes) of the 10 transferable M60E4's that exist. They'll even let you rent their Humvee and take it out into the desert. Did I mention there's an M2 mounted on top said Humvee?
One of these days I'm going over there on my lunch break and trying to wear out an MP5. It's healthier and more filling than what I usually get for lunch. [:D]0 -
One of the least exspensive of the select fire sub/rifles is the M2 carbine. My 2 cents [8D]

The answer to your question is simple. Spend a weekend in Las Vegas! Pick out a package deal for the weekend and go have a ball. There are a couple of shops that have indoor ranges with all the automatic weapons you could possible want to choose from. I don't have their cards handy but I was just there a few months ago and they run nice operations. You could make like the three young guys from England I met there and make an evening out of it. They were starting out shooting Uzi's and MP-5's then they were going to the strip club to get drunk and then off to the cathouse.
Can't get a night on the town like that in London! Just some boys out looking for a good time on a Saturday night...

I am no expert on this subject, but what about an M-3 "greasegun"? They are, I believe, considered to be extremly reliable, .45 ACP caliber and pretty cheap by most comparison? Just a thought!

If you can find an M3A1 "Grease Gun" for less than $12,000, let me know. I've wanted one for a long time but that's the best price I've seen. 0 -
Sorry Zero...thought they were available as transferable parts kits.

I want a Sten Mk II if I can find a CLEO to sign off on one. I suppose I will have to retire in Scottsdale just to get my Sten. Somebody needs to make a web site with known cities/counties that will sign off. That would be a wealth of information for the Class III crowd. 0
