Value of Win 70 FWT 7x57 and 257 Rob
I recently acquired two post 64 Model 70 FWTs that I cannot find much info on. Both of these blued guns have original Winchester Featherweight Laminated green/brown/gray stocks on them. These are not aftermarket stocks. Each has the fancy Featherweight checkering pattern and a Winchester rubber recoil pad. I know Winchester made these calibers for only a short time, but I can't find this caliber/stock combination in any of my reference books. Any info on when they were made, how many were produced, value, etc would be greatly appreciated.
Forgot to mention; the 257 Rob is new and still has the factory hang tag on it. The 7x57 looks like new, but I believe it has been fired.

These guns are indeed factory Winchester, to the best of my reccollection. Keep in mind I have no reference to them either, but I will give you a general direction. The Roberts was made in the early '90's and the 7mm the late '80's. Both, I believe, were made for CDNN of some other such wholesale house as special offerings to their customers. As such, the value would likely be the same as for any other such Featherweight, blued and normally stocked. Keep in mind that exclusivity does not always mean valuable. Trade name guns, reagardless of their original lineage, are rarely even as valuable as the Factories offerings and are considered more of a "shooters value" arm than anything. Your special stocked gun would be similar to these trade name guns, but I feel would be worth about the same as the factory weapon. You might find someone out there that finds this gun particularly interesting, but feel that the book values that you see should approximate the value of the laminate stock in this case. This is, of course, my best guess on this one and I hope someone else out there has more concrete info.
