Shipping Handgun

I read a lot of the old posts about shipping handguns but I think I need further clarification.

I am not a licensed dealer. I want to ship a gun to SIG for repair. I do have a FedEx account. So I thought I would fill in the description part of the shipping label as "tools and dies" and drop it in the FedEx box for pickup. Is that ok or should I go to their office and declare that it's a pistol?

I asked Sig and they didn't give me any suggestions other than to send it by overnight.

    Hello all I am new to the forums so excuse me if I am asking a repeat question here I did do a few searches and think I know the answer but just need a little reassurance from the experts so I dont upset anyone in the auction side. So here is my confusion shipping a hand gun I do not have an FFL and when I have sold riffles I just have the buyer send me a copy of their FFL then I ship it via the Post Office but as I understand it the Post Office does not allow you to ship handguns, but it looks like Fedex and UPS does but I am unclear on the FFL part can I still just have the buyer send me a copy of their FFL then ship it Fedex/Ups as I do with the riffles and the Post office?
    Again I apologize if this is a repeat and redundant question I just want to be sure before I post any hand guns in the auction side.

    If it was me i would tell them and i would ship over night [:D]

    Don't write anything on the box indicating it is a firearm.
    I go for the brown-paper-wrapped box, brown paper tape, standard label.
    Usually they give you a "washed" address omiting their name.
    With a firearm I feel more comfortable giving it to a responsible representative of the shipping company with their understanding it is a firearm going to a factory repair center.

    The FEDEX "tariff" (rules) are on their website.

    You must ship it Next Day Air (if you lie to them, & it's lost or damaged, they won't pay). You must ship from a company customer counter (unless you have regular pick-ups from them). You must request "adult signature required".

    Paper-wrapped packages are no longer accepted by common carriers.

    Thanks. Just went to their website and they are very clear about no drop box. So I guess I'm off to their office tomorrow.
