Remington caved in last fall and chambered the 700 in 270WSM. -- They told me on the phone that they had no intention at this time of chambering their guns in the other two Winchester Short mag. calibers ( 7mmWSM & 300WSM ) and would continue with their own SAUM calibers. At the time Winchester didn't have the WSSM calibers out yet ( around last October ). -- The gun chambered in 270WSM is called a "Special Purpose Magnum". It is matte black with the Remington factory synthetic stock and a 24" six groove barrel ( the Browning and Winchester rifles have a four groove barrel for what it's worth ). Normal Model 700 weight with the synthetic stock making it a little lighter ( I would guess around 7.25lbs without a scope ). -- Hope this helps........[8D]
P.S. = Dealer cost from Jerry's Sports center last fall was right at $400.00 plus whatever your dealer would charge.Don't know how much they have gone up or if they have changed to other models by now.............................[8D]0
