Browning Challenger III
Trying to find out more about this pistol so I can put it up for auction. I went to brownings web site, and found out that these were only made for 3 years (83-85). Mine turns out to be # 2311 in 83. Just want to put a fair price on it, since they are kind of rare.

It would depend on condition more then anything else.
Collectors only would be willing to pay top dollar, if it's NIB with all original paperwork and accessories? That it came with.
Any amount of obvious wear, even though you might have the box and paperwork, would put it in the shooter category, and it would be priced accordingly.

Challenger III was never all that popular. Why I have no idea. It is a nice looking pistol with the slab sided barrel and they are pretty darn good shooters too. Anyway I think their short mfg. span was due to low sales.
Of course you didn't say if you had the Std "III" or the Sporter (6 3/4 inch round barrel), but value wise it don't really make any difference. Blue Book in top condition is $220 for either model, and in my part of the country that translates into $250-300 depending on if you have box and papers, spare mag., etc. Might even get a little over $300 if you have everything mentioned and the pistol is "mint".

"Their short manufacturing span" was caused by Browning putting the BuckMark on the market in 1985.0
