Yep...as long as you stick to 2 3/4. Mags need a different ejector I think.Bert couldn't have helped anyway since its a repeater!!!!

How old is your 870? I believe the older ones has a 1" diameter on the mag ring below the barrel. The newer ones only have a 7/8" ring. Just pull the barrel and measure the diameter. I saw this on one of the forums a short time ago and went and measured mine.

    Cheers, Bob

Actually, the real problem with me is that it is a Remington and not a WINCHESTER![:D][^][:D]

LOL yup its a REAL gun [:D] any ways the only barrel that will NOT fit is one for a 870 special field ( I think thats what they where called, they had a straight stock and a shorter mag tube ) any other 12 ga. 870 barrel will fit and will work , just remember IF its a 3" barrel on a standard receiver (ie non magnum receiver ) DON'T shoot 3 " shells in it , just use your 2 3/4" ....

one other thing is the mag. caps are different on the newer guns , the older guns had that little detent ball in the barrel ring and the notches on the lip of the cap, now they have put the notches on the inside of the cap and they tighten agaisnt notches that are on the end of the mag tube instead of the little detent ball, you can use them either way , its just if you put a newer barrel without the detent ball on a older gun , your cap can work loose, I have one on my 870 and have had no problems with it , you just have to keep and eye on it [;)]
