my nephew called and said he found a double barrel,SxS at a flea market with the name mantoit on it. Anyone fimilar with this name[?] I'm trying too find out if it's a antique or repro. Tried searching websites but can't find anything but the name keeps coming up in french. Told him too bring and let me see it in a couple of weeks!!

Hello Charlie...
Are you/he sure that it is "mantoit" and not "Manton"[?] Manton was one of the well known English percussion SxS makers. I do not recognize the "mantoit" name. Have him look for or at the proofmarks on it.

Hey Charlie......Like Bert said....Gotta see some Proof Marks....They are Located under the Breech End of the Barrels...Just push out the Wedge in the Fore Stock and lift the barrels out of the Stock....Be Gentle when You do it....This Gun could be over 150 years old....Do No Harm....!..Lets us know what you find.....and be explicit in your discription, as We can only see what You have thru Your Eyes........Best.....
