Ruger deerfield carbine questions
I was in a gun store the other day and happened to come across a mini14 with synthetic stock and stainless barell. As I was looking around I noticed the deerfield carbine I was ready to buy a deerfield if I could get it in the synthetic stock but couldn't find one. The guy behind the counter said they don't make them with synthetic stocks. I will be using the gun for bear hunting as a back up to Taurus model 44. Most of the time I will be following my dogs with it on my back and really like the durability of synthetic stocks. Does anybody know if there is an aftermarket synthetic stock out there somewhere or would I need to have a gunsmith custom make one?

I've never seen a synthetic stock for either the old style or the new style Ruger .44 mag carbines. I have compared a 10/22 stock to the old type and while they sure aren't exact, a little epoxy and grinding work might get you what you want.
I have no idea about the new ones, but they look like they're based off the mini's and maybe a synthetic stock off a mini-14 or 30 might work, I have no idea.
I do know there are synthetic stocks available for some of the .44 mag lever guns if that interests you.0
