Even though my dad and 2 uncles were cops I believe cops are only good for one thing and that's finding the culprit after the crime has been committed. The cops can't be everywhere and sometimes they don't want to be anywhere. Take care of you and yours-no one else will!!

I'm pretty sure none of the states will allow you to carry a handgun before you're 21y/o. However, many states do allow you to possess and possibly have in your vehicle a shotgun or rifle after the age of 18y/o. You should do a quick internet search on your states firearms laws and then call and ask a few questions.

train your SISTER, (if you know how)n and let HER carry it. No cop is going to frisk a college girl, and if she's discrete with it, the issue will never arise unless she NEEDS it, and then she won't mind the law at all. :-) No prosecutor will charge a girl who used a gun to fight off a would be rapist. He'll get unelected next time if he does.

Get a restraining order, I know it is only a piece of paper. Here in Maine you can obtain a CCW at 18 years of age but 21 is the rule in your state. You also have to remember that, even with a CCW, you cannot carry on school premises. The best bet for immediate use is pepper spray if it is allowed in your state. Once the restraining order is in effect be sure to get law enforcement involved so they can get this guy off the streets if he bothers your sister again. Be sure someone is always there to accompany her until the problem can be eliminated.

Be very careful here young man! I know that you want to do the right thing and boy would I be upset too, however, you will do your sister no good at all if you are in jail! There are so many legal avenues this jokers family could follow after his "demise" that you are fairly well guaranteed to end up penniless, in jail or both! If he enters your house with il intent, you are justified in your actions. This does not, however, preclude the dirtbags family from filing a civil and winning with a sympathetic jury and thus still wiping you out! CHECK YOUR STATES LAWS CAREFULLY!! Hopefully someone like Mark Christiansen can help you here! He has a HUGE amount on knowledge in this area and will likely give sage advice! Either way, don't come off to anyone with the percieved intent that you would like to "do him in" or anything of that nature...makes the trial lawyer types wet their pants with glee and anticipation! Just the kind of case they need to retire to the Caymans! Stay on the local Gendarmes and make sure that you take digital photos of him or his vehicle anytime he is in the area...and GET THAT RESTRAINING ORDER! Without it, you are groundless and likely to get little or no attention. Once the Cops have had enough of the constant calss reporting him for violations of the order, they will likely "take care" of he guy in a manner that will be memorable to him, and perhaps you'll have bought enough time to get your Carry Card legally! Oh, and by the way, don'tcarry that 92 around without one...I hear jail sucks and whatever the cause, the Cops won't appreciate finding it on you! No one on this Forum can advise you to do what you suggest, so take that with a grain of salt but know it is intended to keep you out of trouble AND harms way! Hang in there and keep your sister at home until you can get this sorted out. This kind of moron normally cannot stay away long and he will either walk into your home and get what he desrves, or he will violate that court order and go BYE BYE for a long time!!! Hang in there, and ask Mark if you can...he's a wellspring of good info

The Local sheriff can issue a CCW to anyone he sees fit to issue to, in situations like this, without the standard Firearms Safety Training Course (eight hours).

I agree that caution is needed here.

I can't even tell if you understand the circumstances under which it is legal to use lethal force. ("Stalking" is NOT one of them.) The restraining order is a good first step. Then, talk to the local police again; I'm sure that they will help.

In any case, you might want to read "In the Gravest Extreme" by Massad Ayoob.

Well the reason I want the ccw is just in case this guy shows up and is armed, I have no intent to "take care of him" I just don't want to have to take him on bare handed if he has a gun or knife and wants to take my sister for "a little fun"

Because even if he was armed and I wasn't it would not stop me from trying to protect my sister who btw is only 17 and still in hight school I would probably die stopping him but that would not stop me from trying to stop him.

We just got back from down town with the forms for the restraining order, about 15 pages total and we need to know the guys adress... hopefully the police will give it to us..

We are going to see if she can carry pepper spray, and ya I don't intend to carry on school property after letting myself cool off a bit, hopefully he will also obey the laws and not go on school property with a weapon to get her.....

I don't really want her carrying a gun, "not that she even could" she is not mature enough to know when to and when not to use it.

edit: I gues he is also somewhat mentally unstable so there is no telling what he is capable of, the school cop said he didn't like the look in the guys eyes that he scared him "the cop was scared of him"

If you really think this guy is a genuine threat to either your or your sisters' life then carry anyway, CCW or not. Just don't leave the house much. However, if you get caught you'll have to pay the penalty for your decision. That's a decision only you can make.

Consider moving to NH. We have no minimum age for issuing a CCW. In fact, it's illegal for a person to be denied on the basis of age. We're a shall issue state and there are litterally pre-teens here with CCW's. They can't be in possession of a handgun without a parent or guardian present, but they have the license. There's also no requirement for a training class or prohibition against carrying on college property.
