FAR-15 from Olympic Arms, thoughts? Suggestions?
I am looking at the FAR-15 from Olympic Arms
Olympic Arms FAR-15 Featherweight AR .223 Semi auto, this rifle weighs only 4.92 pounds! My reasons are
weight 4.92 pounds

The lifetime warranty and the weight are the only thing that has me looking at this and not a bushmaster in the same price range. Oh ya the price is 753.50 from GunsNstuff

Do any of you know if thats a chrome lined barrel? edit: found out it has a 4140 Chromemoly steel match grade barrel, 1x9 twist is that chrome lined?
anything wrong with this choice? I am still looking for review for it but so far my mind is set on this, unless you guys have a lot of negatives on this one.

Got an Olympic lower and it works just fine. Nice people to deal with.
"Match" grade barrels are not chrome lined.
One suggestion. I use the M-4 configuration as a "Tactical" carbine. As such you want it to point and shhot as quickly as possible. For this, I prefer the "Flat top" upper with and EoTech scope. Only be better if it fired by itself!

that's very light Is having 1lb less wt worth $150 to you? If not, get a Rock River Arms lower, $100 on ***********.com, and a $420 parts kit from Model One Sales. Both have Net sites. Assembling an AR lower is very simple, requires no special tools. How-to's are available at AR-15.com, and at HomeGunsmithing Forums (Roderus Custom Gunworks). 0 -
Rock River Arms is an excellent choice, but so is Olympic Arms. A lower from Olympic cost $100 and a complete fully assembled, test fired, lifetime warranted upper from them cost $449. Either way you get a nice rifle for well under $700, maybe even under $600 depending on the FFL dealers added on cost. Also you may want to check www.adcofirearms.com for prices on Rock River Arms rifles and uppers, they are often cheaper than Model1 sales, and they have super low shipping cost ($4.00 on orders over $20). 0 -
redice, Personal preference, but I would go with the heavier barrel.Some on the forum have knocked Oly Arms, but I swear by them.
SPIKE, I had(read stolen) the 1st H-bar match that Oly built, and it had a chrome bore. It was designated Anti-Terrorist Counter Sniper and was guaranteed by Oly to print 1/4" groups at 600 meters.Wish I still had it.[:(]0
