10mm

does anyone know where i might get a 16 in barrel for a glock 20 ????? or will a 16in even fit in a glock? I own two 10mm handguns and have thought that a 10mm carbine would be AWESOME.

    Ive got a kimber tle II in 45, is it possible to change the barrel
    to convert to a 10mm, or should I sell and get me a 10mm?

    its the same dimensions as the .40 cal but longer. its a great bullet for hunting pigs, deer, etc, but can be a little stout for some to use as defensive round. I really like the 10mm. somebody else can tell you more about the history. I know the FBI considered it but didnt stick with it.

    For a semi automatic hand gun round it falls between the 357mag and the 41mag in power. That puts it way ahead of the 9mm or 40 S&W or 357sig or the 45acp. [8D]

    10MM Auto ammo can get pricey. Most of the commercial ammo that is produced nowadays is loaded below origional specs. For full power ammo there are a few companies that produce it. Ammo ranges from $20 for 20 rounds to around $12.00. For an excellent selection of full power loads i would look towards Double Tap Ammo.

    P.S. recoil is mild in Glock 20 [:D]

    The others have pretty much answered your question already. Simply put, it's among the most powerful auto pistol cartridges ever developed.

    The 10mm - either you've got it, or you don't get it...

    Thanks bambihunter that was exactly the picture I was talking about. I want to see what the .22 looks like but it's probably way off the scale.

    Consider the .45 Super instead. It's the same case as the .45 ACP, but offers a 185 gr jhp at 1300 fps. Most shooting is done with far less powerful loads. So why not have the option of low cost .45 ACP ammo, hmm?

    You can get a little more energy (445 ft lbs) with a 155gr . JHP (jacketed hollow point) in 40 S&W caliber.

    But the 10mm's 400 ft lbs pushing a 180 gr. JHP is gonna have more knock-down power.

    .45 ACP 230 gr. 370 ft. lbs

    I find the 40 just right, but I'd sure hate to be wrong!

    Where'd you get 400 lousy ftlbs for the 10mm? Or 370 for the .45,hmm? Remington's had a 185 gr .45 jhp at 1150 fps for at least 15years, and that's 540 ft lbs. The 10mm can get 200 grs to 1200 fps or 155grs to 1400fps, or 135 grs to 1500 fps,all in a 4" barrel. 650ft lbs or so.
