What is a 357 Herrett ?????
I came across a Thompson Contender barrel in a 357 Herrett,
I was hopin someone could shed some light on the subject.
Is this a special round, will it fire reg. 357?

Hello 357 Herrett was a wildcat cartdridge it is a 308 size case shorten and then necked down to take 357 dia bullets I don't know if anybody but Thompson ever factory chambered there barrels & i dont think any factory loaded ammo. 0 -

It's a pure Wildcat cartridge, made by reforming (in dies), shortening and necking up the 30-30 Winchester case, followed by a final fire-forming in the pistol.
I wouldn't want to try using a standard 357Mag in there.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
Thanks guys< much appreciated 0
