double derringer by Rossi.. What is it?

    They were imported prior to the enactment of GCA 68, during the same time frame the Lady Smith replicas ( also made by Rossi ) came into the country.

    I believe these derringer's were called "Gurraches" ( don't know if my spelling is correct? ) They were commonly made, for and used by the poor folks in Brazil, i.e. their not high quality.

    Since they havn't been imported in over 35 years, their value probably would be greater as a little known novelty, than as a functioning firearm.

    Thank You Rufe... It is a Novelty...
    Its made like a minature SxS Shotgun.
    I dont have much in it & I think I'll take it out & see if it actually shoots

    They are called "garruchas" in Brazil and the .22s are more common here than there--down there they favor larger calibers including small shotshells for snake killing. I've seen them loaded for the European 9mm rimfire "garden gun" shotshell, which also comes in a ball loading for bigger stuff, and for .38 Special and .44 Russian and .44-40.
