Springfield trapdoor bayonet
How can I tell if I have an real Springfield trapdoor bayonet? The US thing on the sheath, is made of brass, but it is dull, the ring that goes on the barrel is rusted and the only marks on this thing is behind the U S on the sheath, which is an outline of an square, and after the curve going to the blade is the letter U S and an small "s" or an "8". The leather is very dry and looks very old. Any help would be welcome. If this thing is real, how much is thing be worth?

Sounds like it might be authentic. Try checking fleabay for prices; these are available all the time. My guess: around $70 or so.
