4300 ft lbs, AR15

A gunsmith named Tim LeGendre offers an upper for the AR which uses a cut down 284 Winchester case to drive a 230gr .45 ACP bullet to 2900fps. I see no point in such,but I do for a solid bronze, 270 gr bullet, at 2250fps. That would be 3000 ft lbs, and would let me stop charging elephants with an AR-15! :-) No, I'm not kidding. Kilamajo Bell dropped hundreds of tuskers with 7x57 and 6.5 rifles, using head shots, and having less power, and a bullet that was far more likely to get deformed and not follow its intended path. He also didn't have 1/4 as fast a repeat shot,nor the advantage of as cheap shooting and handling practice as can be had with an AR.

    So which one are you? Aceyman, Ricky3, snuff, or one of the others. You have a very distinctive style of writing (like myself) and a single subject aways comes up...an AR-15 doing something incredible.

    The AR-15 can indeed do many pretty incredible things. It's a shame that so many people are ignorant of that fact.

    It appears that you are indeed the same person I thought you were. Since I know that you've read my posts you are of course aware that I sell Colt LE products for a living and fully understand the AR-15s advantages (which are many) and limitations (which are also present in the weapons system). Please try to maintain a friendlier and less preaching attitude then you've had during your previous visits to the forums. We won't be chatting again.
