MP5 or Uzi
I would really like an MP5, however there is a huge $10,000+ price tag. Can anybody give me a comparison between the accuracy of a full sized MP5 and a Full Size Uzi?

If I were most concerned with accuracy, I dont think I would be looking at either of these[:D] Im pretty sure there is a pretty big price difference between them. 0 -
In semi auto mode the MP5 is more accurate than the UZI in semi auto mode. In full auto mode it is spray and pray for both. The UZI is a 2nd Generation SMG the MP5 is a 3rd generation SMG. My 2 cents [8D]

I don't know about accuracy (nor do I think I'd care if I could afford either - I don't see a point in sharpshooting with an SMG), but I think the MP5 beats the Uzi hands-down when it comes to ergonomics. You can find them for less than $10,000 (the lowest price I've seen was $8,000, at The Armory in Scottsdale, AZ; and that's the one I held and am basing my ergonomics point on).
If I didn't have to wear a suit and could therefore ride my motorcycle to work every day, I'd seriously consider getting rid of my truck and getting an MP5 and M16 instead. Lord knows they'll appreciate as fast as my truck will depreciate, and will be a lot more fun to boot. And, in a pinch, an SMG or assault rifle (as in the real kind, not the gun-grabber-defined kind) will get me as many miles down the road as my truck ever would. [;)]0 -
Don't forget that these SMG's are just toys; expensive toys, but, still, just toys. Only those who have money to throw away should buy one, & these folks don't need to worry about whether or not they will appreciate.
There is a very real possibility that some day Congress will decide to outlaw them (it takes only 1 incident), & all machine guns will be confiscated with no compensation. They know who has every one of them, & where they are.

the uzi shoots from an open bolt while the mp5 shoots from a closed bolt. In case of the uzi you have about a pound of movin mass when you pull the trigger. This can cause you to get of the target before the firing pin hits the cap. I'd get the mp5.

Why not just make your own? [}:)]

Why are you so hard on us class 3 guys? The man has a valid question. If our _____ Congress feels the need to outlaw machineguns, what makes you think they will stop there. We need to stick together.

PS. The MP5 has the sweetest trigger of any subgun!!!0 -
I'd really like to get into NFA guns, myself, but am obviously low on cash since I'm going back to school in the fall. I almost got a suppressed P22, but thought the better of it because the plinking value is not any different than a P22 by its lonesome. Do you have any hints for getting into this noble hobby without being in debt for it? (My bank will never approve a loan for a machine gun, and I'd get in trouble for fraud if I approved my own loan as I work at the bank...)[;)] 0 -
I have shot both guns. The MP5 cost double what an UZI does. Cycle rate is the same. The MP5 is a fine subgun, but to me is not worth the extra money. You can also buy a mini- uzi or micro uzi ( which is real difficult to find ) for less money than the MP5. Replacement parts, magazines ect. are cheaper on the uzi. Be fore warned the MP5 guns that are cheap ( around 10-12k ) are sear guns, not true MG's imported. Either way you choose, they are great investments you can play with and make money on in the future. My money would be on the Uzi. 0 -
Shot both, MP5 felt better to me...
I will never own one, hell I can't afford the ammo!!

I've shot both, and I would take the MP5 over the uzi in a second. The MP5 fires from the closed bolt and therefore is more accurate. While shooting a MP5SD I was hitting a 6" square piece of steel at 100 yards. That is pretty good for a SMG. I also own a M-11/9mm I would stay away from them. They are fun, but unreliable. As far as MG's being outlawed and 'confiscated', I don't see it happening. Just make sure you put the RIGHT people in office. Which ever you decide to buy, have fun. 0
