Quick Question "ACK-IMP" ???????

I just bought a COLT rifle in a 30-06 and on the barrel are the
letters "ACK-IMP". it's not factory stamped, looks to be after market. I'm just curious as to what it means. someone told me ackley improved, but that still means nothing.

  Here is a explanation. It would only affect you if you reload. If you dont reload using a Ackley Improved, full length sizeing die your case life will be short.

  P.O. Ackley "improved" many cartridges; do a google & learn much.
