Hi-Standard GE Model

Here's another one,I got this one from the same person I got the Flite-King from.I would say it's about 93% anyone know when it was manufactured? Serial number is 317XXX.It has three barrels the two short ones are of a different dia. and one has a different front sight.

    The GE variants are very nice pistols and are often lacking from many collections (I'm sure bobski has one) and is tough to locate with the extra barrels. Your pistol was probably produced around 1950.

    yep, i got mine! want it? email me! [:p] mines the 6 3/4". GE's are collectible but you got to remember, as you go back in time with hi standards you go back in quality. GE's were improved with the 100 series. the 100 series was improved with the 101 and so on. GE's were dovetail lever takedowns. they were historicaly the first model with interchagable bbls. the 100 saw an improved small button on a dovetail takedown(rail,)(like your 22 short flight king.) so, the GE was a test. they tried it, saw the problems, corrected them with the 100. saw more problems, corrected them with the 101, saw problems, corrected it with the 102, etc... they achieved perfection with the 103 and 106. (1960-1965, the sweet spot) now back to your gun...by history, hi std always listened to its customers and improved to meet the needs of the shooters. you have to remember, 90% of 22's on line were hi stds! biggest complaints were gun wt and sights. the interchangable bbls took care of the wt issue. but the sights just lingered for about 25 years. finally, they got it right on the 102 series and to this day, the same company in conn is still making them for hi stds. the GE's flaws were lousy rear sight and like all dovetail takedowns, sight slop on bbls rails. take your gun and bend it in half with one hand on the bbl and one hand on the frame. does it move where the bbl meets the frame? guns that have been shot a lot will. lets see, moving bbl...hmmm, what could that do to accuracy? now look at your rear sight. look how elevation is adjusted. the elevation screw is only pushing the sight up on one side! becasue of the height of the front sight, you have to really crank theat baby way up and it causes the rear sight to tilt as the screw goes down. to eliminate this, shooters would file down the front sight to a sliver, so the rear wouldnt have to go up so far. collectible guns will have full height on the front sight. functional,(shot,) guns will have front sights filed down. tell me what you got! and...post a pic and i'll tell you if the extra bbl is correct or not!

    Bobski,the mag in the GE is in the white.The rear sight is perfectly straight and the front sight appears to be the right height.When I check the slide play it seems very tight.Thanks for the information.

    the top 2 bbls pic'ed are for the gun. the bottom one is for the lesser field grade gun, most likely a gb. the give-away is the rounded front blade for slipping in holsters or pockets. all target blades are sharp corners on the trailing edge for precision shadow elimination. correct me if im wrong, but your guns should be marked new haven, not hamden. white mag, steel bullet guide. perfect for the gun. keep the mag well oiled and clean and it will be fine. the mag alone is worth 65.00. see the set screw on that sight? see how it pushes the sight up on the right?     Bobski, take another look at the barrel that is on the gun. I think it is a GD barrel instead of a GE barrel. It is just a little bit smaller in diameter than a GE barrel. It is a great gun. Someday I will find one with the original wood box.

    hmm, might very well be. the bevel must be the same from the bbl to the breech to be correct. you have good eyes. GD's and GE's were so close! well, there goes the 2 bbl value!
