Give us an overall description (condition) of the gun---- wood, bores, seriousness of the pitting, etc, and we'll advise you.

Well jmdvet: It sounds like, "pretty bad shape, beginning to pit at the ends", on how much money you want to spend. Pits can be like icebergs, small on top, big beneath the surface. Meaning a gunsmith can chase pits only so far. There are some hi-quality restoration gunsmiths out there who can dissassembe the barrels, polish, resolder, and reblue like the factory did. It's expensive. Then there are gunsmiths who can polish on a buffing wheel, and rehotblue, for a lot less. Again it depends on how much you want to spend. You are right to be concerned because once pitting starts, it will continue to get worse with time. Regards Dave
