Cheap single actions

Are the single action revolvers made by Heritage Mfg. any good? I am looking for a .22 caliber single action mainly for plinking so I don't need anything to elaborate. Would the Heritage Mfg. be a good choice or should I just get a Ruger?

    Tired of hearing "you get what you pay for?" well here it is again, if you just want a plinker the Heritage will work, you should be able to find one for $100 range, if your serious pay twice as much & go Ruger. just my 2 bits

    the Heritage is a piece of junk , find a good used Ruger Single Six ,, I picked up a used one the other day for $119 , blueing was not so good any more but the action was nice and tight and it shot great , just take your time and look around , bargains are out there you just have to find them

    A friend of mine picked one of the Rough Rider combo models (.22LR/.22Mag) up at a auction a while back, NIB for $90. This was an early example from around 1994 so things may have changed but I can't say that I was too impressed with the pistol. The finish on the alloy frame looked quite shiny and black when compared with the more polished blue finish on the steel barrel and cylinders but of course this is just cosmetic. Quality of fit and workmanship was so-so with quite a few tool marks and more play in the cylinders then I would judge to be acceptable. The ejector rod in this particular Rough Rider was very loose and nothing we could do could seem to remove the sloppy fit. The biggest issue with the pistol was that the cylinder hand was wearing a VERY noticable groove on the ratchets of each cylinder to the point that after about 300 rounds they looked AWFUL and at some point in time this is going to cause some serious trouble. The timing on the cylinder was also off just a little bit and since this pistol has to be placed on half-cock to load/unload the timing problem made it tough to get the cylinder moving and alighned correctly (if at all) about half the time. Otherwise the pitol shot well enough, but not enough for me to suggest a purchase. Look elsewhere in my opinion.

    Go with a used Ruger or perhaps an older Hi-Standard or H&R.
